Abstract

This research aims to examine the use of Virtual Reality (VR) technology in increasing scientific literacy on the topic of biodiversity in Senior High Schools (SMA). VR technology provides a more interactive and immersive learning experience, allowing students to interact directly with virtual objects and environments that resemble the real world. This research used a qualitative descriptive method, with data collection carried out through questionnaires given to 20 students and 2 biology teachers at SMA Negeri 12 Pontianak. The research results show that VR technology has great potential in improving students' understanding of abstract concepts related to biodiversity. However, the main obstacles are limited infrastructure, costs, and teachers' lack of ability to use this technology. This research suggests the need for curriculum development that supports the integration of VR in learning, as well as increased training for teachers to maximize the use of VR in the classroom.
