Abstract

Ternate City is known as an old city with a prosperous history. This is in line with Ternate's great role in the past as an influential sultanate accompanied by its wealth of spices. The fragrance of spices invited other nations to come to this island to monopolize the goods. The arrival of Europeans on Ternate Island left traces, such as the forts they built in an effort to control Ternate Island. The forts that were once built by Europeans functioned as trading posts, lookout posts, and defense forts as well as castles or settlement centers in forts for Europeans at that time. Therefore, these forts are spread throughout Ternate. Today, they can be found as cultural heritage objects. Several European forts in Ternate are still in good condition, but some forts have been destroyed, lost and damaged. As an effort to preserve the cultural heritage, socialization needs to be carried out, especially to the younger generation. The Community Service Team (PKM) has implemented it at SMA N 3 Ternate City. It is hoped that after the socialization, the young generation of Ternate City will always preserve and even utilize these objects as the wealth and identity of their region. To make it interesting, this socialization is delivered with pictorial media such as posters, equipped with barcodes, the information of which can be sent with gadgets.
